  Desmond Hosford earned his Ph.D. in musicology at The Graduate Center of The City University of New York where he is also completing his Ph.D. in French. He specializes in and has published widely on 17th- and 18th-century French tragedy, tragédie en musique, the Bourbon court of France, early modern gender and sexuality, and animal philosophy. He is also an active harpsichordist. Desmond’s responsibilities at RILM include accessing, translating, editing, and indexing French, Italian, and Dutch material, particularly in historical musicology classes emphasizing the Renaissance, Baroque, Classic, and Romantic periods, opera and dramatic arts, keyboard instruments, and literature. Desmond is the director of the Foundation for French and Francophone Musical Cultures at the Barry S. Brook Center for Music Research and Documentation.
