Joseph T. Orchard, B.A., M.A., Ph.D., earned his doctorate at Rutgers University, writing his dissertation on rhetoric in the string quartets of W.A. Mozart. His duties at RILM include the overseeing of the index manual, the managing of assistant editors, and the editing of the Historical musicology classes, the String and Wind instrument classes, the early Performance practice classes, and the Music in liturgy and ritual classes, with particular emphasis on general history, antiquity, Middle Ages, and Classic and pre-Classic, 20th-century musical life, and Catholic and Protestant liturgy and ritual. He has read papers on Mozart’s works at various conferences. He is a cellist, and also sings and promotes Gregorian chant when the opportunity arises. He is also the Administrator of the Aston Magna Festival. He currently serves as the treasurer of the Mozart Society of America. He contributes to the classical music scene in New Jersey through teaching, performing, and program notes. His wife, Nan, is a pianist and teaches at Caldwell College. |
