Kenneth Yarmey’s primary responsibility is to coordinate and oversee the metadata and markup of digitized full texts by independent contractors for delivery on RILM’s Egret platform and on EBSCOhost. In addition he provides consultation for the editing of content related to organology, Turkish musical genres, and sufi musical practices.
Yarmey received his MA in music history from Rutgers University and an MPhil in musicology from the CUNY Graduate Center. He is proficient at playing a number of Western instruments such as organ, piano, saxophone, and recorder. In recent years, Yarmey’s interest in learning and excelling in instrument playing has extended to Middle Eastern instruments. He is currently the lead bendir player in a Turkish sufi music ensemble.
