L. Charles Fink has served as Chief Technologist for RILM since January of 2020. In that role he provides strategic and operational direction for planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s technology assets and infrastructure. He also serves on RILM’s Board of Directors. Prior to that, he has worked as a Senior Technology Consultant for RILM since 2011.

In addition to his work with RILM, Charlie is a Senior Software Engineering Consultant in the Fellowships Office (FO) of the National Academies of Science. In this role he provides guidance on the development and maintenance of mission-critical software and IT systems in support of all programs in the FO. These systems support the application, review, and management of fellowships across the United States.

Prior to joining the National Academies, Charlie worked as a software developer and project manager in various roles including several start-ups. He has engineered Web-based applications on a variety of platforms, created desktop/shrink-wrapped software for Macintosh and Windows platforms, and managed many large software development projects across a number of subject domains. He has also designed technical training materials and lead classes for developers and users on Web stack development.
