Martha Schulenburg is an Assistant Editor for RILM Abstract of Music Literature with Full Text and handles print materials for related incoming publications.
A PhD candidate in musicology at the CUNY Graduate Center, her dissertation traces the transmedial influences on Tin Pan Alley via the figure of the vampire or “vamp”, and its significance as a gendered and racialized figure. Ms. Schulenburg’s other scholarship concerns the use of sound and diegetic music in the works of David Lynch, and is to be published in a forthcoming collection by Routledge. Ms. Schulenburg previously studied bassoon performance at Towson University and earned a MM in musicology at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University. Prior to joining RILM, she was a member of the digitization staff at Répertoire International de la Presse Musicale (RIPM).
