RILM at MLA in Portland, Oregon

23 January 2018

RILM would like to invite you to lunch, hosted by RILM and EBSCO, in Portland at the Music Library Association’s annual conference.

On Friday, 2 February, from 12:00 to 1:30 pm, RILM will present, “Breaking Barriers for Music Research in the Twenty-First Century: MGG Online and RILM’s Newest Reference Resources” in the Park Room at the Hilton Portland Downtown.

Barbara Dobbs Mackenzie will open the meeting with a brief update on recent developments at RILM, including the coming takeover of The Index of Printed Music. Following this, Barbara will present RILM Abstracts of Music Literature with Full Text, an expansion and enhancement of the unrivaled global bibliography of writings with full-text content from more than 200 key periodicals. Jonathan Greenberg will then speak about RILM Music Encyclopedias, an expanding full-text compilation, now with 49 current and historical titles from 1775 to the present. This resource provides comprehensive encyclopedic coverage of the most important disciplines, fields, and subject areas in music. In January 2018 four more titles were added to help meet the teaching, learning, and research needs of the international music community. MGG Online, the digital and continually updating version of Die Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart, celebrated its one-year anniversary in November 2017 – an occasion for a glance back at its achievements and transformations as well as a look forward towards new objectives. Jonathan will highlight new features and new content, as well as features planned for the coming year.

All interested persons (scholars, librarians, contributors, board and committee members, etc.) are invited to this presentation. Please RSVP by to reserve lunch and a seat: Send an email to conferences@rilm.org with your name, institution, and “MLA” in the subject line.
