RILM is Hiring (Associate Editor, Arabic)

RILM seeks to fill an Associate Editor position in its International Office in New York City. The successful candidate will be responsible for abstracting and indexing scholarship published in the Arabic language, in addition to publications in Persian or Urdu, making sure that they are fully and accurately represented in RILM Abstracts.

RILM at IASPM in Minnesota, 2023

RILM will participate in the 21st biannual international congress of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM)-U.S. in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on 26–30 June 2023. The theme of this year’s conference is “Popular music in crisis”, which places popular music in the contexts of the COVID-19 pandemic, rise of right-wing populism, effects of anthropogenic climate change, and other challenges pervasive from the beginning of the decade.

Editor and Product Development Coordinator Beatriz Goubert, along with Data Coordinator Lindsey Eckenroth and Editor Russell Skelchy, will be in attendance. On Monday, 26 June, at 10:45am CDT, Russell will present his paper “A Culture of Sharing: Mutual Aid, COVID-19 and a Punk Infoshop in Manila,  Philippines” on the panel Sounds of the Pandemic City (Pandemics and Health Crisis stream). Shortly after, at 1:00pm CDT, Lindsey will present her paper “Zine-Based Assignments as Punk Pedagogy” on the panel The Written Archives of Popular Music: Music Magazine and Fanzines as a Repository of Musical Practices, chaired by Beatriz.

RILM at MOLA in Berlin, 2023

Editor and MGG Online Product Development Coordinator Georg Burgstaller will exhibit RILM’s resources at the 41st annual conference of the Major Orchestra Librarians’ Association (MOLA), hosted by the Berliner Philharmoniker from 2 to 5 June 2023. MOLA facilitates communication between professional performance librarians, providing support and resources to over 300 performing arts organizations. Georg will be available throughout the conference to discuss the wealth of information relevant to the modern orchestral world contained in RILM’s digital collections.
